“MSAC plays a key role in the work by ACC and others to reduce motorcycle crashes and the impact they have on riders, families and the community. By reappointing these three councillors we are ensuring MSAC will continue to benefit from their proven skills and passion for making New Zealand riders safer,” she said.

The reappointed councillors, Janice Millman, Andrew Darrell and David Golightly, collectively bring strong management and governance expertise combined with deep personal involvement in motorcycling and the motorcycling community.

Motorcyclists are 21 times more likely to be killed or injured than car drivers over the same distance travelled. In helping reduce this toll, MSAC has been active in promoting rider safety awareness. It has also led safer road design initiatives and advanced research in rider visibility, moped and scooter safety and personal protective equipment.

Focus areas for ongoing work include programmes focussing on rider skills, road user behaviour and motorcycle safety technology.

Janice Millman is the President of the Women's International Motorcycle Association (New Zealand division) and brings a strong background in senior leadership, Ms Kaye said.

“Andrew Darrell is an experienced motorcyclist who brings a broad understanding of the perspectives of motorcyclists. Along with a strong background in private sector leadership, David Golightly has extensive networks in the motorcycle industry and community, and has delivered numerous motorcycle safety training seminars across New Zealand.”
